30 November 2000 RSLP Circular 2000/4 was issued to all UK HEI librarians about future RSLP activities and post RSLP developments.
23 October 2000 Collection Description Concertation Day
3 August 2000 RSLP Circular 2000/3 was issued to all UK HEI librarians requesting suggestions for small scale studies and projects and for views on post-RSLP activities.
17 July 2000 A letter (RSLP Circular 2000/2) was issued to all UK HEI librarians about the basis for any continuation scheme to the RSLP access strand.
23 June 2000 Funding totalling in the region of Ł3.45 million, was announced for second round projects. Five were Collaborative Collection Management (CCM) strand projects and 13 were Research Collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) strand projects. Six of these projects were extensions to those funded under the RSLP’s first call for proposals.
Funding for some of these projects is conditional on clarification on certain issues. (Please note that the sums awarded will be added to the Projects page once all conditions have been met.)
In the case of two further projects, the RSLP agreed to set aside funds and has invited the lead institutions to submit substantially reworked proposals.

29 November 1999 A letter to all UK librarians was issued informing them about the study on the capacity of access control systems that the RSLP is undertaking in conjunction with the libraries of the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde. Also enclosed was a questionnaire for their completion about access control systems currently in place in their institutions.
26 November 1999 Guidelines for the RSLP second call for proposals were issued.

September - October 1999 The RSLP held a series of one-day project management training courses for first round RSLP project managers
9 July 1999 Funding, totalling in the region of Ł7.8m, was announced for first round projects. 12 of these were Collaborative Collection Management (CCM) strand projects, 27 were Research Collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) strand projects, and one provided funding for a conservation unit.
In some of the above projects, funding was agreed subject to clarification of certain aspects of the projects. In the case of two further projects, the RSLP agreed to set aside funds and invited the lead institutions to submit substantially reworked proposals.
The RSLP asked Professor John Feather, University of Loughborough, to oversee an exercise ( to be undertaken between July and end of October 1999) to map microform sets and other important microform materials.
The RSLP announced that it is to commission a feasibility study to investigate possible solutions to the inaccessibility of information on periodicals holdings.
22 June 1999 The RSLP held a meeting with representatives from the British Film Institute, British Library National Sound Archive, British Universities Film and Video Council and representatives from HE. The purpose of the meeting was to discover what sorts of difficulties researchers faced in accessing media materials, and to discuss what sort of mapping exercise of media research materials might help to improve awareness of (and hence access to) these materials. Discussions on this issue continue.

January 1999 Views were sought from the British Academy, almost seventy discipline associations and through a series of 12 focus groups, organised regionally and with representation from a wide range of HEIs. The focus groups, in particular were most successful in terms of information gathered from the academic and library and archive communities
