| 23 June 2000 | Funding totalling in the region of £3.45 million, was announced for second round projects. Five were Collaborative Collection Management (CCM) strand projects and 13 were Research Collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) strand projects. Six of these projects were extensions to those funded under the RSLPs first call for proposals.
Funding for some of these projects is conditional on clarification on certain issues. (Please note that the sums awarded will be added to the Projects page once all conditions have been met.) In the case of two further projects, the RSLP agreed to set aside funds and has invited the lead institutions to submit substantially reworked proposals. |

projects. 12 of these were Collaborative Collection Management (CCM) strand projects,
27 were Research Collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS) strand projects,
and one provided funding for a conservation unit.
In some of the above projects, funding was agreed subject to clarification of certain aspects of the projects. In the case of two further projects, the RSLP agreed to set aside funds and invited the lead institutions to submit substantially reworked proposals. The RSLP asked Professor John Feather, University of Loughborough, to oversee an exercise ( to be undertaken between July and end of October 1999) to map microform sets and other important microform materials. The RSLP announced that it is to commission a feasibility study to investigate possible solutions to the inaccessibility of information on periodicals holdings. |
| 22 June 1999 | The RSLP held a meeting with representatives from the British Film Institute, British Library National Sound Archive, British Universities Film and Video Council and representatives from HE. The purpose of the meeting was to discover what sorts of difficulties researchers faced in accessing media materials, and to discuss what sort of mapping exercise of media research materials might help to improve awareness of (and hence access to) these materials. Discussions on this issue continue. |
